What's left behind the scenes
- Motion capture equipment was installed on an old Sony video camera to create the impression for the viewer that the film was shot with a real handheld camera, and to add more realism to its atmosphere.
- The Big Z tournament on Pin-Gu Island featured true surfing stars – Renato Mendes from Brazil, Rory Nabbs from Australia, and Tatsuhiko Kobayashi from Japan.
- Some voice actors got carried away during work. James Woods, for example, threw objects at the filmmakers that were at hand when his character did the same.
