What's left behind the scenes

  • During filming, Baldwin leaned against a tree (which had been deliberately undercut by the director) that crashed down onto nearby Hopkins. Anthony was knocked off his feet, but there were no injuries, only bruises. After this incident, Alec was in shock and unable to participate in filming for two days...
  • The book "Lost in the Wilds," which Anthony Hopkins' character is reading, was invented specifically for this film.
  • The knife featured in the film was custom-made by craftsman Brian Lyttle from stainless steel with an ivory handle.
  • The airplane used in the film was also used in the filming of "Six Days, Seven Nights" (1998). It crashes in both films.
  • In the fishing episode, when Hopkins is making a tackle, he has a light stubble; a minute later, while fishing, he already has a beard.
  • During filming in the Canadian province of Alberta, Sir Anthony Hopkins nearly died. The actor was taking pills for neck pain, and when he fell into the river, he didn't immediately realize how cold he was getting until he developed hypothermia. He had to be rushed to the hospital.
  • The film was shot in Alberta in sub-zero temperatures. Elle Macpherson had a difficult time, especially during the filming of a scene where her entire costume consisted only of beads, feathers, and a loincloth, but she believed working on a project with Alec Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins was worth it.
  • Anthony Hopkins' character is fishing, but suddenly sees a bear and runs away from it, while the animal is unable to catch him. In reality, Kodiak brown bears can maintain speeds of over 56 km/h over fairly long distances, and catching a person is not difficult for them.
  • The airplane used in the film was also used in the filming of "Six Days Seven Nights" (1998). In both films, it crashes.
