What's left behind the scenes

  • Throughout the film, the name of Tom Selleck’s character, Ramsey, is pronounced approximately 52 times, almost every two minutes.
  • Gene Simmons, one of the founders of the rock band "Kiss," writes in his book that he landed the role of the villain Luther after being able to stare at director Michael Crichton for a minute without showing any emotion.
  • When Ramsey enters the house to save the baby from the killer robot, he steps on a small bush that turns out to be a fake. And in the very next scene, some viewers notice another possible gaffe: although the robot is armed with a revolver, the sound before the shots resembles the reloading of a pump-action shotgun.
  • The English title of the film is "Runaway" (in Russian, "beglets" - runaway). This is how out-of-control robots are referred to in police jargon in the film.
  • The film was shot in the town of Moses Lake, Washington.
  • Gene Simmons, one of the founders of the rock band "Kiss," writes in his book that he landed the role of the villain Luther after being able to stare at director Michael Crichton for a minute without showing any emotion.
