What's left behind the scenes

  • The filming of the prison scenes took place in the maximum-security Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Actual inmates from the prison's drama club were used in these scenes.
  • All the restaurants shown in the film were once the sites of gangland meetings, with the exception of Sparks Steak House, where the meeting took place on the street in front of it.
  • In an effort to achieve maximum authenticity, Robert De Niro and Harold Ramis scouted for people to film on the streets of Little Italy in New York.
  • The prison scenes were filmed at Sing Sing, a maximum-security prison. Actual inmates from the prison’s drama club were used as extras in these scenes.
