What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on the 'Mario' series of computer games (1983 – present, Nintendo).
  • There was one rather curious error in the film's plot. When Spike asks Iggy, testing his newly acquired high intellect, what 191 multiplied by 191 is, he replies: 'Twenty-six thousand four hundred eighty-one'.
  • Throughout the film, the inhabitants of the parallel world never addressed the Mario brothers by their names, referring to them only as "plumbers," "mammals," or "monkeys." Incidentally, Mario himself never once called Princess Daisy by her name.
  • Dinohattan was built on an abandoned cement factory in a forest near Wilmington, North Carolina, and its design was adapted to the existing structure of the building.
  • The film is based on the "Mario" series of video games (1983 – present, Nintendo).
