What's left behind the scenes

  • The alarm clock in Dr. Howell's room plays a song with the lyrics “Tomorrow never comes…” in each episode.
  • Originally, the film was supposed to include another scenario of a global catastrophe – the eruption of a supervolcano in Yellowstone National Park. However, the BBC ultimately made a separate film on this plot called “Supervolcano.”
  • During the second episode, Doctor Howell passes by a cinema in a taxi showing the film “Groundhog Day,” whose protagonist constantly relives the same day.
  • The concerns of protesters against the accelerator launch are identical to those expressed by critics of experiments at the Large Hadron Collider.
  • The events of the third episode may have been based on real events: in 2003, an epidemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome, known as the “atypical pneumonia epidemic,” was declared in East Asia.
  • During the second episode, Dr. Howell drives past a cinema showing "Groundhog Day," whose protagonist constantly relives the same day.
