What's left behind the scenes
- The opening scenes of the film are supplemented by an almost inaudible low-frequency sound, similar to the rumble of an earthquake. This noise causes anxiety, mild nausea, and dizziness in many people. It is believed that the sound design of 'Irreversible' is the main reason why viewers left the screening within the first thirty minutes of the film. This is exactly the reaction that director Gaspar Noé was counting on.
- The music for the film was composed by Thomas Bangalter, a member of the electronic duo Daft Punk. In addition to the original music, the film also features Ludwig van Beethoven's Seventh Symphony and Gustav Mahler's Ninth Symphony.
