- One of the keys to the film's success and its unique calling card was the song by Starship, “Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now,” which topped the national charts in America and Great Britain and earned the film several nominations in the “Best Song” category at various film awards, including the Golden Globe and the Oscar.
- The idea for the film came to the director five years before filming, when he was walking down Fifth Avenue and it seemed to him that a mannequin in the window of 'Bergdorf Goodman' suddenly came to life.
- Before filming began, Kim Cattrall posed for a sculptor from Santa Monica for six weeks. Six mannequins were made, each with a different facial expression.
- The idea for the film came to the director five years before filming, when he was walking down Fifth Avenue and it seemed to him that a mannequin in a Bergdorf Goodman store window suddenly came to life.
