What's left behind the scenes
- The film's protagonist, Gordon Gunderson, played by Peter Esli Holden, was named after Holden’s grandfather, a war veteran who actually fought in the Ardennes Offensive.
- Over a hundred military reenactment enthusiasts volunteered to participate in the filming – they had to lie in the snow for hours.
- The film is dedicated to the brutal December shooting of American soldiers in the Malmedy area, in the Belgian province of Liège, during the Ardennes Offensive (1944–1945).
- The photograph that 'Deacon' carries with him throughout the film depicts actor Corbin Allred's grandmother. Allred's grandfather carried the same photo with him during World War II.
