Short description
After a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren't enough. Li's kung fu teacher Mr. Han enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film's events take place after those depicted in the series "Cobra Kai", which is why the original release date was postponed by 5 months to allow the final season of the series to conclude. The plot is set 3 years after the events of the last season of the series and before the film.
- Han Wenwen, who played Mei Ying in Harold Zwart's sports drama "The Karate Kid" (2010), considered reprising the role under Jonathan Entwistle (mentioning it in an interview at one point), but this did not happen.
