What's left behind the scenes

  • The idea for the film came to Carl Weathers on the set of John McTiernan’s “Predator” (1987) when he and producer Joel Silver were discussing how much they both enjoyed “blaxploitation” films (films geared towards a Black urban audience, a genre that emerged in the late 1970s). After Weathers discussed the same topic with a member of the Australian film crew, the title of the future film was born.
  • When filming began, Carl Weathers was 39 years old. He joked that due to the demanding shooting schedule he had aged to over 60, jokingly blaming director Craig R. Baxley for it.
  • When Carl Weathers and Vanity jump out of the hotel window onto the roof of his convertible while escaping the police, you can notice mattresses covered with a black cloth inside the car upon landing. Additionally, a camera platform, also covered with a mattress, can be seen.
