What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on C.S. Lewis's novel “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” (1952).
  • Principal photography for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" began in Queensland, Australia, on July 27, 2009, where the entire 90-day production process took place. Stage filming was conducted in several soundstages at the Warner Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast.
  • The film's titular character, the majestic Dawn Treader, was created at Cape Cleveland Point. After outdoor shooting, the 140-foot-tall, 125-ton structure was dismantled into more than fifty elements and transported back to the studio for further stage filming. Filming was completed in November 2009.
  • The book does not mention the temptations that the characters must face.
  • The film's final song (Instantly) is performed by Sergey Lazarev.
  • In the book, the heroes encounter the sea serpent by chance before discovering the Dead Water Island, while in the film, it is one of the creations of the Dark Island.
  • The character drawings that viewers see during the end credits are exact copies of the drawings in the book. Their inclusion is a tribute to and in memory of artist Paulina Baynes, who passed away on August 2, 2008, at the age of 85.
  • When Anna Popplewell's character writes a letter from America, a photograph is visible on the table in front of her, clearly showing all the main characters. This is a photograph of the four actors taken during the making of the previous film in the franchise – 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' (Andrew Adamson, 2008).
