Short description
From the rains of Japan, through threats of arrest for 'public indecency' in Canada, and a birthday tribute to her father in Detroit, this documentary follows Madonna on her 1990 'Blond Ambition' concert tour. Filmed in black and white, with the concert pieces in glittering MTV color, it is an intimate look at the work of the icon, from a prayer circle before each performance to bed games with the dance troupe afterwards.

What's left behind the scenes

  • To promote the film, "live" versions of the "Like a Virgin" and "Holiday" music videos were shown on MTV.
  • On January 21, 1992, three dancers from "Blond Ambition" sued Madonna for invasion of privacy during the filming of the movie, demanding compensation for fraud and deception, intentional misleading, concealment of facts, and intentional infliction of emotional distress for the display of private life.
  • By the time the film premiered, Madonna and actor Warren Beatty were no longer seeing each other. In some conversations between them, which Madonna recorded with the intention of including them in the film, Beatty said "I love you," but it had to be cut during editing because Beatty threatened to sue Madonna otherwise.
  • Initially, David Fincher was supposed to direct the film, but he left the project at the very last moment.
