What's left behind the scenes

  • Channing Tatum, Charlie Hunnam, Alexander Skarsgård, Liam Hemsworth (brother of Chris Hemsworth), Kevin McKidd, Joel Kinnaman, and WWE champion Paul Levesque were all considered for the role of Thor. Rumor has it that even stars like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Leonardo DiCaprio were interested in the project. Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki, also auditioned for the role of Thor.
  • Gemma Arterton and Jessica Biel both auditioned for the role of the main character's girlfriend, Jane Foster. Biel also auditioned for the role of Sif.
  • In 2005, director Matthew Vaughn of "Layer Cake" and "Stardust" was set to direct the film. In the 90s, Sam Raimi wanted to direct "Thor" immediately after "Darkman." Although work on "Thor" never began, Raimi directed three films about another Marvel superhero, Spider-Man.
  • Daniel Craig turned down an offer to play Thor.
  • For a long time, Jim Carrey was the main favorite for the role of Loki. It was rumored that Josh Hartnett could also have played the main villain.
  • The film is based on comics about Thor, who first appeared in “Journey into Mystery” #83 in 1962. The character was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby.
  • The first person to arrive at the sinkhole in his red truck was none other than J. Michael Straczynski – the writer of many highly successful comics, including a very good storyline for the Thor comics.
  • To prepare for his role as Loki, Tom Hiddleston trained in the Brazilian martial art of capoeira.
  • A model of the Destroyer's armor was built for the film.
  • Tom Hiddleston prepared for the role by following a strict diet both before filming and throughout the entire process, to give Loki a gaunt, yet hungry appearance.
  • In *Iron Man 2* (2010), Thor’s hammer – Mjolnir – was first shown lying in a crater in New Mexico. This was based on the comics, where, in the period following an apocalyptic event on Asgard, Mjolnir was sent to Earth in New Mexico, where it lay until Thor came to retrieve it.
  • In mythology, Sif possesses golden hair (literally forged from gold by dwarves), but in the film she is dark-haired.
  • The marksman who preferred a sniper bow to all the rifles in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s arsenal is none other than Clint Barton, Hawkeye – another hero who debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in *Thor*. We can hear Agent Coulson refer to him by his last name.
  • In the film, Odin loses an eye in battle with Laufey. According to myths, he gave up his eye himself to drink from the well of wisdom.
  • During Thor's interrogation, a scrape under his left eye is visible, which was not there during his arrest. This is clearly seen when the camera shows a close-up of his face.
  • The film is based on the comics about Thor, who first appeared in "Journey into Mystery" #83 in 1962. The character was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby.
  • According to the film's director, Sir Kenneth Branagh, the end credits play against footage of the universe taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. It took a year and a half to create them.
  • Sir Anthony Hopkins agreed to play Odin, even though he had never read the Thor comics and had no idea about the relevant mythology. He was primarily attracted to the role by the concept of the father-son relationship.
  • In preparation for the role of Thor, Chris Hemsworth regularly went to the gym for six months, building muscle mass. The actor's physique changed so much that the costume prepared for him no longer fit, becoming too tight.
  • Applying Colm Feore's makeup took five hours.
  • The film is based on the comics about Thor, who first appeared in 'Journey into Mystery' #83 in 1962. The character was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby.
