What's left behind the scenes

  • In August 2011, 11 months before the release of "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012), Sony studio announced the release date of the sequel.
  • On September 28, 2012, it was confirmed that Andrew Garfield would play Spider-Man. Simultaneously, Marc Webb was approved as the director of the sequel.
  • Shailene Woodley was chosen for the role of Mary Jane Watson, but in June, after she had already filmed for three days, it was announced that Mary Jane had been cut from the plot and would only appear in the third installment, to focus on the relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. It was also revealed that the role might be given to another actress.
  • On November 1, 2012, it became known that negotiations were underway with Jamie Foxx for the role of the main villain. It was later confirmed that Electro would be the adversary of Spider-Man. And on December 3, 2012, Jamie Foxx officially received the role.
  • Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich, Brady Corbet, Eddie Redmayne, Sam Claflin, Douglas Booth, and Boyd Holbrook were considered for the role of Harry Osborn. On December 3, 2012, Dane DeHaan was cast in the role.
  • Jamie Foxx insisted that Electro not wear the classic comic book costume, but instead that his appearance be based on the Ultimate version of the comics.
  • Chris Cooper previously appeared in "The Favorite" (2003), alongside Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks, who also starred in the previous Spider-Man films.
  • Director Marc Webb chose to shoot the film on 35mm film instead of Red Epic digital cameras, which were used for the first film.
  • Sarah Gadon, Jane Levy, and Kristen Stewart were considered for the role of Mary Jane, but ultimately the character was dropped.
  • The car chase sequence was filmed in Rochester, New York. Kodak's headquarters is also located in Rochester, and the film was shot on Kodak film.
  • Chris Cooper (who plays Norman Osborn) was considered for the role of Doctor Octopus in "Spider-Man 2" (2004).
  • Specifically for this film, Spider-Man's costume was altered to more closely resemble the one he first appeared in on the pages of the comics.
  • To film the battle in Times Square, the set decorators constructed a full-size, accurate replica of the northern part of New York's most famous square.
  • Within the Oscorp building there are glazed sections: one with metallic wings and another with an exoskeleton featuring four tentacles. This is a nod to Spider-Man's antagonists – the Vulture (Adrian Toomes) and Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius).
  • Towards the end of the film, Gwen Stacy wears a mint-colored coat and a purple skirt, the same outfit she wears in the comic "The Night Gwen Stacy Died".
  • According to the plot, two passenger planes are supposed to collide in mid-air due to a loss of communication with air traffic control caused by a power outage on the ground. In airports of this size, autonomous generators should automatically activate. It is also unclear why the planes didn't crash to the ground when the pilot reports malfunctions in some of the aircraft's systems. Judging by the continuation of the scene, the pilots calmly continue to control the plane, and only one system was completely inoperable: "Airborne Collision Avoidance System." The latter automatically alerts pilots to a collision with another aircraft without the involvement of air traffic controllers or other ground equipment, and also provides instructions for evasive maneuvers.
  • At the end of the film, when Gwen falls, a lot of fairly large debris flies around her, but when Spider-Man catches her near the ground, the area around her is practically clear.
  • After Gwen Stacy's death, Peter Parker visits the cemetery in all seasons. But in the next shot, involving Aunt May and a disheartened Peter Parker, it turns out that only half a year has passed since Spider-Man stopped 'working'. Obviously, he stopped 'working' after Gwen's death. Therefore, half a year could not turn into four seasons even with the worst climate in New York.
  • Chris Cooper (who plays Norman Osborn) was considered for the role of Doctor Octopus in "Spider-Man 2" (2004).
  • Towards the end of the film, Gwen Stacy wears a mint-colored coat and a purple skirt, the same outfit she wears in the comic "The Night Gwen Stacy Died."
  • The plot revolves around two passenger planes that are supposed to collide in mid-air due to a loss of communication with air traffic control caused by a power outage on the ground. In such large airports, emergency generators should automatically activate. It's also unclear why the planes didn't crash when the pilot reports the failure of some of the aircraft's systems. Judging by the continuation of the scene, the pilots calmly continue to control the plane, and only one system was completely non-functional: the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS). The latter automatically warns pilots of a collision with another aircraft without the involvement of air traffic controllers or other ground equipment, and also provides guidance on evasive maneuvers.
  • After Gwen Stacy's death, Peter Parker visits the cemetery in all seasons. But the next scene, involving Aunt May and a disheartened Peter Parker, reveals that only six months have passed since Spider-Man stopped "working". Obviously, he stopped "working" after Gwen's death. Therefore, six months could not turn into four seasons even with the worst climate in New York.
