Filming took place in Galicia, specifically in the province of Ourense, in Ordes and the city of Santiago de Compostela.
Father Olmedo (played by José Sacristán) is based on a real priest who gained notoriety due to a case involving a 17-year-old girl in Burgos in 2014, on whom he performed an exorcism. He was subsequently accused of causing serious bodily harm, degrading treatment that offended human dignity, abuse, inciting suicide, and repeatedly inflicting physical and psychological injuries, although he was acquitted on all charges. In 2019, that girl committed suicide. She was only 22 years old.
