The film's budget was only 5% of the budget of Paul Verhoeven's science fiction film "Starship Troopers" (1997).
Cardboard tubes from toilet paper rolls with pieces of cotton glued to them were used as dust clouds. These were then darkened and enlarged using computer technology.
The character of Koba was initially written as an Indian man named Haji. However, Sony studio demanded that a Japanese character be included in the film, so Haji became Koba, who was played by American actor of Japanese descent, Brian Tee.
The film’s budget amounted to only 5% of the budget of Paul Verhoeven’s science fiction film “Starship Troopers” (1997).
