What's left behind the scenes

  • The film's title can be literally translated as “These Amazing Men and Their Flying Machines, or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 Hours and 11 Minutes.”
  • Twenty full-scale, accurate replicas of 1910s airplanes were specially built for the film, including monoplanes, triplanes and biplanes. Original materials were used to make the models, except for safer engine versions. Six of the twenty models were actually capable of flying.
  • The aircraft flown by Pierre Dubois is a copy of the “Demoiselle” aircraft created by Alberto Santos-Dumont (1873-1932) from Brazil. He was a pioneer of aviation who proved the possibility of regularly performing controlled flights on airships. The model was created with as much accuracy as possible, but it simply would not take off. No one could figure out what was wrong until it turned out that Dumont himself weighed only 38 and a half kilograms and was a very small man. Then, a contract was concluded with a British female aviator named Joan Hughes (1918-1993), who participated in the filming.
