What's left behind the scenes
- The film was originally titled "Killing Mrs. Tingle," but after the tragic events of April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School, the film was decided to be renamed to Teaching Mrs. Tingle due to ethical considerations. The Russian release—as in many European countries—retained the original title.
- At that time, Helen Mirren’s sister worked as a teacher. When Mirren told her about the plot of the future film and her role in it, her sister was horrified, and they did not speak to each other for many years afterward.
