What's left behind the scenes

  • If you read “K-9” in English, it comes out as “canine,” which sounds like canine – dog-like (from the Latin canis – dog).
  • A real police German Shepherd trained in drug detection, named Cotton, played the role of Jerry Lee. Together with his partner, Officer Patterson, the dog made over 24 arrests. And in early November 1991, the dog became a true hero when he discovered over 10 kg of cocaine worth over $1.2 million. On November 18, 1991, the dog died in the line of duty – during the arrest of a suspect in a police officer’s murder, the brave dog was shot.
  • The dog named Rando, who played Jerry Lee, depicted “coming back to life” after surgery completely unexpectedly for everyone present. This scene wasn’t even in the script, but the moment seemed so funny that they decided to film it (since everyone – actors and crew members – were already in place) and include it in the film.
