Short description

What's left behind the scenes
- Actor, director, and producer Spike Lee coined the term "magical negro" around the year 2000. The term refers to a typical Black character in a supporting role whose sole purpose is to help the main character – who is white. Striking examples of magical negros are the characters in Robert Zemeckis’s *Forrest Gump* (1994), Frank Darabont’s *The Green Mile* (1999), and Robert Redford’s *The Legend of Bagger Vance* (2000).
