- The U.S. Constitution does indeed prohibit trying a person for the same crime more than once; however, the fact that a person was convicted of a crime they did not commit does not give them the right to then go and commit that crime. Furthermore, the heroine could have been tried not only for intentional murder, but also for concealed carry, stalking, and manslaughter.
