What's left behind the scenes

  • Sharon Stone was initially planned to play Harriet, Myers' wife.
  • During the filming of the scene in the butcher shop, Nancy Travis was distracted by Mike Myers and accidentally cut off the pad of her left index finger while chopping vegetables. It had to be sewn back on.
  • When portraying Stuart McKenzie, actor Mike Myers drew on some of the traits and mannerisms of his own father.
  • Mike Myers made significant changes to the script, with the help of a friend from the UK, actor, writer, and comedian Neil Mullarkey. According to Myers, the changes were truly substantial. They initially approached Robbie Fox with a proposal to mention their contribution in the credits, but he refused, and the Writers Guild decided that Fox should be credited as the sole screenwriter. Producer Robert N. Fried and Myers were very upset that Mullarkey, who contributed so much to the script, wasn't even mentioned in the credits.
  • As part of preparing for the role, Nancy Travis spoke with a real butcher.
  • Applying makeup to Michael Myers took over 3 and a half hours.
  • For filming the rooftop scene, the artist John Graymark (1935-2010) ordered the construction of a model of the roof of the Dansmore House in California, covering an area of over 1,500 square meters, and had it placed on the ground. Subsequently, some parts of the roof were donated to the Dansmore Foundation and used in the restoration of the mansion.
