What's left behind the scenes
- The film is dedicated to the memory of composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
- According to director Hirokazu Kore-eda, he was inspired to make a film about homophobia after watching Gregg Araki's drama "Mysterious Skin" (2004), which he considers one of the greatest films in history.
