What's left behind the scenes

  • Leonardo DiCaprio became acquainted with James Foley while working on Scott Calvert's (1964-2014) sports drama, "The Basketball Diaries" (1995). He suggested his friend Mark Wahlberg for a role in "Fear." Foley and Wahlberg spent some time together, communicating and discussing the role, and subsequently Wahlberg was told that Foley liked him very much, but he still wouldn't be cast in the lead role. Wahlberg was offered the role of one of the protagonist’s friends, but at the audition he made such an impression on Foley that Foley went to the studio and stated that he would not shoot the film if Wahlberg was not approved for the lead role.
  • The line “Let me into this goddamn house!” was invented by Mark Wahlberg himself; it wasn't in the script. Initially, it was cut from the film, but James Foley reinserted the cut scene with the line, and it became one of the most frequently quoted lines.
