What's left behind the scenes

  • The film combines three stories. Two are from the collection "Night Shift" – "Quitters, Inc." and "The Ledge." The third, unifying story, "The General," was written specifically for the film.
  • The studio ordered the prologue to be cut from the film, which explained the cat's motives, considering this introduction "too stupid." As a result, many viewers never understood what connected the three stories.
  • In the story "The Ledge," Cressner briefly glances at a July 1976 issue of "Penthouse" magazine. It was in this issue that Stephen King's story "The Ledge" was first published.
  • Throughout the film, the song "Every Breath You Take" (1983) by The Police can be heard several times. Using the original would have been beyond the budget of the low-budget film, so a cover version was used.
  • The scene with the drawbridge was filmed near Highway #421 in Wilmington, North Carolina. A year later, the same bridge appeared in the film "Maximum Overdrive," which Stephen King directed based on his own screenplay.
