- Director and screenwriter Tyler Perry filmed the movie quickly because he was eager to show the result to Lenore Derrick Bell King (1923-2024), the only surviving member of the unit depicted in the film. He specifically traveled to Las Vegas, where King resided, and showed her the film on his iPad.
