What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming of "Remember the Titans," which began on October 3, 1999, wrapped on December 14 of the same year and took place in several cities in the states of Georgia and Virginia.
  • In one episode of the film, a brick flies through the window of Coach Herman Boone's house. In reality, an old toilet was thrown through Boone's window, but the filmmakers felt that this would add an unnecessary humorous touch to the serious situation, so they replaced the toilet with a brick.
  • The initial script contained a lot of profanity, but the management of Walt Disney Pictures asked Jerry Bruckheimer to remove it all in order to create a normal film for family viewing.
  • The film was shot in Georgia, not in Virginia, where the real events that served as its basis took place. This is why tourists who came to Alexandria to see the T.C. Williams school, which the film is about, were consistently disappointed.
  • To make the film as authentic as possible, Boaz Yakin invited real referees from the Atlanta Football Association to join the cast. They played the unscrupulous judges.
  • The T.C. Williams school was depicted by one of the schools in DeKalb County, Georgia. The school did not have its own stadium, so the game scenes were filmed at the stadiums of other schools and a local college.
  • Ray Buddz, Alan Bosley, Fred Bosley, and Coach Tyrell are fictional characters. The filmmakers introduced them into the plot to add extra drama to the film.
  • Victoria Stadium, which hosted the championship game, was demolished in July 2006. In the 1970s, it served as a stadium for several schools in the district.
  • The state championship game started at noon on Saturday, not in the evening as depicted in the film.
  • Coach Boone's team won the championship game with a score of 27-0.
  • Victoria Stadium, where the final match took place, was demolished in July 2006. In the 1970s, it served as a stadium for several schools in the district at once.
