When the character played by Treat Williams sings the third verse of the final musical number, the backing vocalists perform lines from William Shakespeare's (1554-1616) tragedies "Romeo and Juliet" (1595-1596) and "Hamlet" (1600-1601).
Director Miloš Forman (1932-2018) only regretted casting Nicholas Ray (1911-1979) as the General. He had to perform in clouds of smoke, he acted, and only then did Forman learn that Ray had lung cancer.

After the show, he approached the authors – James Rado (1932-2022), Gerome Ragni (1935-1991), and Galt MacDermot (1928-2018) – stating that he would like to create a cinematic adaptation and asking them to consider his proposal.
