Short description
A group of recruits go through Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Polk, Louisiana's infamous Tigerland, last stop before Vietnam for tens of thousands of young men in 1971.

What's left behind the scenes

  • "Tigerland" was the name of training camps where American soldiers prepared for combat operations in Southeast Asia.
  • The book Boz reads at the beginning of the film is Dalton Trumbo's well-known anti-war novel, 'Johnny Got His Gun,' about a disfigured veteran of World War I.
  • The expletive 'fuck' was uttered a total of 276 times in 98 minutes of screen time – approximately three times per minute.
  • The film was shown in only five cinemas.
  • During filming, the actors had no trailers, hairdressers, chairs, or any of the typical comforts found on any film set.
  • The film was shot on 16mm film to make the image grainy, reminiscent of documentary footage.
