What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming took place in the USA, England, and Italy from March to May 2024.
  • George Clooney, who played the lead role, signed a contract to participate in the project within 24 hours of receiving the script. He was embarrassed that Noah Baumbach (director, screenwriter, and producer) usually shot many takes of each scene. Clooney believed that this was unnecessary given his age and experience. He told Baumbach as much, stating that "he was already 63 years old and couldn't play each scene 50 times."
  • In the final scene of the film, excerpts from movies starring George Clooney are projected onto the screen. These include Mimi Leder's action film "The Peacemaker" (1997), Steven Gaghan's thriller "Syriana" (2005), Tony Gilroy's crime drama "Michael Clayton" (2007), George Clooney's own sports melodrama "The Ides of March" (2008), the Coen brothers' crime thriller "Burn After Reading" (2008), Wes Levellin's short film "Up In the Air" (2009), Anton Corbijn's thriller "The American" (2010), and others.
  • The character played by Jim Broadbent in the film (named Peter Schneider) is based on director Peter Bogdanovich (1939-2022). Baumbach, the director, screenwriter, and producer, considered Bogdanovich to be his teacher. At the funeral, George Clooney's character is given one of Broadbent's scarves – this item of clothing was typical of Bogdanovich.
