Several scenes were filmed at the “Ambassador Hotel” in Los Angeles shortly before its demolition. It was in this very hotel that Robert Kennedy was assassinated.
The director decided not to cast an actor for the role of Robert Kennedy, but to include documentary footage of the senator’s speeches in the film. Kennedy is only played by an actor in some scenes, but in those cases, the viewer does not see his face.
The character of Lindsay Lohan is based on a motel clerk where Emilio Estevez was writing the screenplay.
Helen Hunt received the script just one day before filming began.
It took Emilio Estevez seven years to bring this project to life.
The scene where Sharon Stone's character cuts her husband's hair (William H. Macy) was not in the script. Sharon was supposed to mime cutting hair, but she actually started cutting William's hair.
