What's left behind the scenes
- Almost all the stunts in the film were performed by Dax Shepard, Seth Green, and Matthew Lillard themselves.
- Practically all the camp scenes were filmed inside a huge warehouse.
- The bear shown in the film is a Kodiak bear. This is a subspecies of brown bears that inhabit Kodiak Island and other islands of the Kodiak Archipelago off the southern coast of Alaska, but not Oregon. Only black bears, or baribals, live in Oregon.
- The last rapids before the canoe with the heroes passed through the waterfall were Class 5. Navigating such rapids in a canoe is fraught with serious danger, so the scene was filmed with stunt doubles.
