- Scorsese advised Griffin Dunne not to sleep or have sex during filming to achieve the necessary level of tension.
- Martin Scorsese couldn't come up with a suitable ending for the film, so he asked Brian De Palma, Steven Spielberg, and Terry Gilliam to watch the film and give their opinion on how it should end.
