What's left behind the scenes

  • During filming in Hamilton, a van was towed upside down along the street as part of a chase scene; stuntman Chris Laymon and another stunt performer were reportedly rolling safely, but Laymon evidently hit his head and died six days later. Todd Schroeder suffered a concussion in the same incident. The scene was reshot with the van moving slower and the stunt performers positioned differently.
  • Filming in Toronto was postponed again when David Vadim was arrested and accused of sexual harassment on set.
  • Eva Mendes's character in the film was redubbed by another actress, but she only found out at the premiere, which she attended with all her relatives. She was later told that she herself sounded 'not smart enough.'
  • According to Tom Arnold, Steven Seagal actually fell into the water while filming the scene on the boat.
  • According to Steven Quadros (an American television host specializing, among other things, in sports combat interviews on cable television), the fight between Steven Seagal and Michael Jai White was not rehearsed in advance; the actors improvised everything from the first blow to the last.
  • The scene featuring the helicopter attack on the bridge was filmed in Calgary, in the Canadian province of Alberta. When the film crew arrived, the bridge had already been closed for reconstruction for a year, and the explosions caused concern among local residents. Approximately six months later – after the bridge had reopened – a scandal erupted in Calgary because the film crew returned to reshoot some scenes and asked the city administration to close the bridge again.
