Short description
Downtrodden writer Henry and distressed goddess Wanda aren't exactly husband and wife: they're wedded to their bar stools. But, they like each other's company—and Barfly captures their giddy, gin-soaked attempts to make a go of life on the skids.
What's left behind the scenes
- Charles Bukowski, the screenwriter and American writer, appears in the film in a small cameo. When Mickey Rourke's character goes to the Kenmore bar, Charles Bukowski can be seen at the counter. Near Vander. Drinking beer.
- Sean Penn really wanted to play Henry Chinaski and was even willing to work for free, but the director chose Mickey Rourke.
