What's left behind the scenes
- Terry Crews voiced Earl instead of Mr. T. Mr. T was offered to voice the character in the sequel, but he declined. Most of the character's movements and mannerisms were taken from Terry Crews' on-screen persona.
- To portray the voice of pickled cucumbers, the actors filled their mouths with water and then delivered their lines.
- 120 creature designs were made for the film, but only 39 made it into the final cut. One of the creatures that didn't make the cut was a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a marshmallow body, a mouth made of graham crackers (a sweet biscuit made from whole wheat flour, used to make cheesecake crusts and other desserts), and chocolate teeth. This creature appears on screen only during the end credits.
