What's left behind the scenes

  • A film adaptation of Walter Lord's historical non-fiction book "The Last Night of the Titanic" (original title "A Night to Remember").
  • The ship's blueprints were used in the construction of the sets, and the fourth officer of the Titanic, Joseph Boxhall, and Commodore Harry Grattidge of the Cunard Line served as consultants.
  • Notably, the film used individual materials from the 1943 German film "Titanic" – specifically, the view of a model sailing during the day and the foamy wake behind the stern. The film is also distinguished by being the first to depict the gradual, smooth sinking of the ship and its movement during submersion. It also features Thomas Andrews and Wallace Hartley for the first time.
  • The film contains a historical inaccuracy: the opening scenes show a ship christening ceremony with a bottle of champagne. In reality, no such ceremony was held for the "Titanic"—the White Star Line consciously did not adhere to this practice.
