What's left behind the scenes

  • When jumping from the castle wall onto a tree, Chan lost his grip and fell onto a rock, fracturing his skull. A skull base fracture and a brain hemorrhage resulted. As a result, his right ear hears worse than his left. This was the most serious injury he sustained, nearly costing Jackie Chan his life.
  • During the filming of the scene where Jackie fights four girls, he sometimes replaced them with stunt performers from his team.
  • Filming of 'Armour of God' took place in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, with the participation of Yugoslav filmmakers.
  • In the episode where Chan rescues his friends from prison, Laura addresses him by the name "Kunsan," and shortly after— "Chan Kunsan." In fact, Kunsan is Jackie's birth name. In the American version of the film, "Kunsan" was changed to "cowboy."
  • There are two versions of the film: the Hong Kong version from Golden Harvest and the American version from Dimension Films. The Hong Kong version is 97 minutes long, while the American version is 88 minutes long.
  • The car driven by Jackie Chan in the film is a Mitsubishi Colt Targa Concept. This is a special, one-off model made exclusively for the film's shooting.
  • In the US, the film was released under the title "Operation Condor 2: Armor of God". The reason is that the second part of the franchise was released in American theaters slightly earlier, which constantly causes confusion.
  • The scene with the group "The Losers" is a parody of the Hong Kong rock band "The Winners" ("Wynners"). The rock band included Alan Tam, Anthony Chan and Kenny Bee. They all participated in the filming of the movie.
  • Eric Tsang directed those scenes before the accident, where we see Jackie Chan with short hair. Everything else was filmed under the direction of Jackie himself, as soon as he recovered. Eric was the only one who advised Jackie to get a shorter haircut, but Leonard Ho was against it, he felt it would bring bad luck and he turned out to be right.
  • Jackie Chan's image in this film would later be used in the animated series "Jackie Chan Adventures" (2000-2005).
  • The car stunts in the film were performed by the famous French legendary stunt coordinator - Michel Julienne.
  • Mars (JC Stunt Association) doubled for Jackie in some scenes.
  • The film was nominated for the 1988 Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography.
  • In the kidnapping scene involving Jackie's girlfriend from the fashion show, the criminals shoot a photographer, and in one frame, he is seen using a Soviet-made ZENIT export camera.
  • In the scene where Jackie throws one of the Amazons (actually a male stuntman) to the ground, you can see they are wearing white tennis shoes instead of black high heels.
  • Due to a skull injury, Jackie appears with a short haircut at the beginning of the film, and after jumping from the castle wall, he rolls in the grass with already grown-out hair.
  • Towards the end of the film, it's noticeable that Jackie lands on a hot air balloon standing on the ground (the balloon isn't moving, and the treetop is clearly visible in the frame). Therefore, the stunt of jumping from the cliff onto the hot air balloon consists of three edited parts – a jump from a helicopter with a parachute (during Jackie's freefall, it's clear the altitude is at least 1 km), landing on the balloon standing on the ground, taking off with Jackie on the balloon, and lowering it into the basket in the air.
  • There are 2 versions of the film: a Hong Kong version from “Golden Harvest” and an American version from “Dimension Films”. The Hong Kong version is 97 minutes long, while the American version is 88 minutes long.
  • The car driven by Jackie Chan in the film is a “Mitsubishi Colt Targa Concept”. It is a special one-time model made exclusively for the film's shooting.
  • The episode featuring the band “The Losers” is a parody of the Hong Kong rock band “The Wynners”. Alan Tam, Anthony Chan, and Kenny Bee were all members of the rock band and all participated in the filming of the movie.
