What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming lasted 8 months, four of which were spent staging the fight scene in the wind tunnel.
  • Jackie Chan filmed this movie after the box office failure of “Miracles” (1989), in order to recoup the costs of the latter.
  • The Hong Kong version of the film has a runtime of 106 minutes, the American version – 92 minutes.
  • Members of the film crew constantly fell ill and suffered from bites from tropical insects and other desert creatures. Sand was a constant problem, as it penetrated sensitive cameras and other equipment. Fed up with fighting the desert's "natural elements," the film crew returned to Hong Kong, bringing with them a ton of sand to finish filming some scenes.
  • The staging of the auto and motorcycle stunts in the film was handled by Rémy Julien's team (the legendary French stunt coordinator and performer), who also staged stunts in the first film.
  • The film was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Award in 1992 for Best Action Choreography.
  • The large motorcycle jump onto the crane's cargo (following the chase) was performed by the well-known French stuntman, Michel Julien.
  • During the chase scene involving the black cars, right at the end, when two of them fall into the water and Jackie grabs onto the suspended crate, you can see the passengers climbing out of the car and giving a thumbs-up to the film crew, indicating that everything is okay.
  • During a motorcycle chase, Jackie is pursued by 4 black cars. At one point, he is boxed in on an alleyway and drives in reverse over the cars that blocked the alley behind him, shattering the windshields of many of them. He then sprays red paint on the rear window of one of the cars. The chase continues on the street, but all the windows are intact.
