- A newspaper article about Marvin's father features a photograph of Rob Schneider’s father superimposed onto a picture of a police officer. The actor’s father was also named Marvin, and the film is dedicated to his memory. The car in which Marvin is involved in an accident also belonged to the actor’s father (although cars of the same make and year were also used as duplicates for this scene).
- Rob Schneider's mother played the cameo role of the neighbor, Mrs. Dalerosa.
- Harry Dean Stanton played the role of the hunter, but almost all of the material with him was cut during editing.
