  • The restoration of the ascent, involving the actors, was filmed in the Alps.
  • During the making of the film, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates organized an expedition to the Peruvian Andes to shoot establishing shots of Siula Grande, at the very location where they had their base camp in 1985.
