What's left behind the scenes

  • The original film script featured the characters dealing with the famous, real-life biker gang the Hells Angels, and their official logo was used. After the Hells Angels sued Disney, the gang's name in the film was changed to the fictional Del Fuegos.
  • Although the script states that the four friends live in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio, in reality, none of the film's scenes were shot in or around that city.
  • In one of the opening scenes, when Dudley loses control of his motorcycle after parking, distant road signs clearly indicate that the filming took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • The film features a small cameo by Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr., the founders of Orange County Choppers, a company that manufactures custom motorcycles and became especially well-known after the release of the reality show “American Chopper: The Series” (2003). The two famous motorcycle builders appear in the “Real Pigs” bar (its owner and one of the customers are in the background).
  • Jack's army green bike also features the Orange County Choppers logo.
  • When Jack (Ray Liotta) gets into a scuffle with the 'Real Hogs' in a biker bar, he drinks a diet light beer with a low alcohol content, which is completely at odds with the image of a 'tough guy'.
  • Harley Davidson provided motorcycles for the four main characters, with each receiving their own model: Dudley – an XL1200C Sportster Custom, Bobby – an FXSTS Springer Softail, Doug – a Black Fatboy with a chrome front wheel, and Woody – a Screaming Eagle Fatboy.
  • The scene where Peter Fonda's character tells the 'Real Hogs' to get rid of their watches is a kind of reference to the classic film 'Easy Rider' (1969), in which the actor also starred. At the beginning of the film, Peter Fonda’s character Wyatt throws his watch away before a road trip.
  • The film features a small cameo by Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr., the founders of Orange County Choppers, a company that manufactures custom motorcycles and became particularly well-known after the release of the reality show “American Chopper: The Series” (2003). The two famous motorcycle builders appear in the “Real Hogs”’ favorite bar (its owner and one of the customers are in the background).
