Director Shen Ao decided to make a film about online casinos after hearing about a case of a man who committed suicide after being defrauded by cybercriminals.
With the support of relevant government agencies, Shen Ao spent three years collecting information about well-known cases of online fraud from abroad. As a result, he had to analyze tens of thousands of cases, and writing the script took a year and a half.
The film is banned in Cambodia. Representatives of Cambodia and Myanmar stated that the film tarnishes the reputation of their countries, although the action of the film takes place in an unnamed Southeast Asian country.
