What's left behind the scenes

  • At the beginning of the film, an elderly couple is watching Romero's "Night of the Living Dead".
  • Tommy Lee Wallace was initially offered the directing role, as John Carpenter categorically refused to take the director's chair.
  • Jamie Lee Curtis was forced to wear a wig, concealing her real hairstyle.
  • The film was banned in Germany.
  • This film marked Dana Carvey's debut. He can be seen in front of the Doyle's house, where his character receives instructions from a television reporter.
  • Initially, the action was supposed to take place in a high-rise apartment building, but it was later moved to Haddonfield Hospital.
  • Although Carpenter relinquished the director's chair, he observed the filming process as a screenwriter. When what Rosenthal shot seemed boring to him, he personally shot several bloody shots, which he then inserted into the film despite Rosenthal's protests.
  • Dick Warlock, who played Michael, played one of the police officers in front of the Doyle house. His son, Lance Warlock, played the boy in the cowboy outfit with a boombox on his shoulder (Boom Box Boy) who walks down Main Street in Haddonfield and encounters Michael at the moment the announcer talks about Laurie Stroud. This scene was also directed by John Carpenter.
  • Sally tells Alice that the three bodies from the first film were found in a house on Orange Grove. This is a real street in Hollywood, California. The first "Halloween" was filmed there, and the two houses that were used as the Wallace and Doyle homes are located on that street.
  • Dick Warlock wore platform boots to appear taller.
  • In the scene where Michael attacks Laurie as she tries to squeeze through the basement window, while he stands below her and waves a scalpel, Dick Warlock was actually waving a stick with a piece of rubber on the end.
  • The film was shot at Morningside Hospital in Los Angeles.
  • During filming, Nancy Stephens met her future husband, Rick Rosenthal.
  • During the scene of Karen's murder, Pamela Susan Shoop, who played her, contracted an ear infection while filming, as the water she was drowned in was not very sterile.
  • Alice, the first victim in the film, speaks to her friend Sally on the phone shortly before her death. Sally’s voice is that of Nancy Kyes, who played Annie Brackett in the previous installment and here plays Annie’s corpse.
  • In the first part, the door to the Doyle house opened inwards to the right, whereas here, at the very beginning when Loomis exits the house, it is visible that the door opens inwards to the left.
  • Although the action takes place immediately after the first part, a concrete path appeared near the Doyle house, and a small tree near the Wallace house.
  • Sally tells Alice that three bodies from the first film were found in a house on Orange Grove. This is a real street in Hollywood, California. The first "Halloween" was filmed on it, and the two houses that were used as the Wallace and Doyle homes are still standing there.
