What's left behind the scenes

  • Johnny Depp can be spotted in a commercial shown on television. Depp played one of the main characters in the first 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' (1984).
  • Alice Cooper played Freddy's father.
  • The film's producer, Robert Shaye, played a bus ticket vendor.
  • Rosanna and Tom Arnold played a childless couple.
  • The scenes from when the main character puts on special glasses to when she takes them off were filmed in 3-D. In theaters, viewers were given special glasses that needed to be worn to watch this scene.
  • When the film was released on video, the 3-D scene was presented in a standard format. However, in the Laserdisc version, the scene was made as it could be seen in the cinema. Two pairs of special glasses were included in each Laserdisc film edition package.
  • On September 12, 1991, the day before the film's premiere, this day was proclaimed Freddy Krueger Day in Los Angeles.
  • Initially, Peter Jackson was supposed to write the screenplay for the film. He wrote a treatment, but it did not appeal to the film's producers.
  • This film marked Brekin Meyer's cinematic debut.
  • In the original script, the protagonist was Alice Johnson's sixteen-year-old son, the heroine of the previous film. Freddy was supposed to kill Alice. Taryn, Joey, and Kincaid from “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors,” who died at Freddy’s hands, were to return as the “Dream Police.” In the script, Taryn was characterized as “Blade Cop,” Joey as “Sound Cop,” and Kincaid as “Power Cop.” The original script was rejected by Rachel Talalay.
  • The film's music was composed by Australian composer Brian May, author of the musical accompaniment to the cult road movies “Mad Max I-II”; and a complete namesake of the guitarist of the legendary rock band “QUEEN”.
  • This film summarizes everything that was filmed in the previous installments: the town of Springwood (part 1), Freddy trying to enter the real world (part 2), children in a psychiatric hospital (part 3), 3D effects (part 4), the fact that Freddy actually had a child (part 5).
