Short description
Dr. David Marrow invites three distinct individuals to the eerie and isolated Hill House to be subjects for a sleep disorder study. The unfortunate guests discover that Marrow is far more interested in the sinister mansion itself — and they soon see the true nature of its horror.
What's left behind the scenes
- The project initially belonged to Dimension Films, and Wes Craven was slated to direct it.
- The fireplace in the House was designed to resemble the fireplace from the film 'Citizen Kane'. The character of Catherine Zeta-Jones even comments at the beginning of the film that the house is designed in the style of Charles Foster Kane.
- Several sets for the Hill House were built in a hangar that housed The Spruce Goose (Hughes H-4 Hercules) – the giant aircraft designed by Howard Hughes.
- The title of the film "The Haunting of Hill House" had to be changed because a film called "House on Haunted Hill" was expected to be released later that same year.
- The fireplace in the House was designed to resemble the fireplace from "Citizen Kane." The character played by Catherine Zeta-Jones even comments at the beginning of the film that the house is in the style of Charles Foster Kane.
