• In some Spanish-speaking countries, the film is called «Conquistando a mi Suegro» ( "How I Won Over My Father-in-Law").
• Kevin Rodney Sullivan said he took on this film because he has a daughter who he thinks might one day start dating a Samoan-type rock drummer, and this project would give him a chance to work through his issues before that day comes.
• During pre-production, Ashton Kutcher suggested that Simon Green should be Jewish, and that this would add another source of conflict with Percy Jones (a Christian), but director Sullivan rejected this idea, as he wanted to focus on the issue of interracial marriage, without the element of religious difference.
• Ashton Kutcher refused to remove his Kabbalistic bracelet during filming. The film's creators spent $100,000 to digitally remove the bracelet, but it can still be clearly seen in some shots, particularly during the breakfast scene.
