A film adaptation of the eponymous play by Edmond Rostand.
Filming took place in dozens of cities in France and Hungary, in many historical locations (castles, abbeys), as well as in numerous public places. These include Le Mans, Fontainebleau, Fontenay Abbey, Dijon, Uzès, Moret-sur-Loing, and others.
When Cyrano meets Roxane in the morning at Ragno's confectionery (at 36 minutes into the film), a wound is clearly visible on his right wrist (along the metacarpal bone, II and III phalanges of the index finger). The wound is also visible when he enters his cadet corps during the day and when he unbuttons his doublet, but when one of the Gascon musketeers brings hats (strung on a sword) from fleeing mercenary killers, and Cyrano takes the sword (at 44 minutes into the film), there are no traces of the wound on his right wrist.
