What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was initially planned as the first in a series about Sherlock Holmes, but the public did not accept Hammer Studios' work lacking any monsters, so the plans had to be revised.
  • A dog named Colonel was used in the film. During the shooting of the scene where the dog attacks Sir Henry Baskerville, played by Christopher Lee (1922-2015), they tried repeatedly to make the dog lunge at the actor and even began to “encourage” it, but all was in vain. And at the moment when Lee had already given up hope, Colonel attacked him and bit his hand.
